Our Story

From Humble Beginnings to Empowering Thousands

Life is too short to master every essential skill on your own. That insight became the spark behind Vertical Progress.

A young man from a modest background began his journey as a salesman after graduation. Despite putting in sincere efforts, he saw little to no growth in his career for the first seven years. His turning point came when a roommate inspired him to aim higher and not settle for mediocrity. However, access to quality training and mentorship was limited. His primary sources of learning were his immediate supervisors, a narrow and inconsistent stream of knowledge.

Determined to grow, he took the challenging route of self-learning. It was a long, expensive journey filled with trial and error. He often learned valuable lessons only after making costly mistakes. What truly guided him were motivational books, autobiographies, and professional training sessions.

Eventually, those learnings paid off. From a street-smart salesman, he rose steadily, reaching senior leadership roles within just 16 years. Inspired by his own transformation and fuelled by the desire to uplift others, he founded Vertical Progress on 1st January, 2011, a skill development academy focused on helping individuals achieve professional and personal excellence.

Driven by a passion for authentic learning, he began sharing only proven, practical strategies. Along the way, he discovered the scientific foundation behind soft skills ‘psychology’. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Psychology, identifying "soft skills" by their scientific term: psycho-social skills. To ensure that Vertical Progress always delivered the most relevant and research-backed content, he brought in expert facilitators, content creators, and knowledge partners.

Thanks to this collaborative and research-driven approach, Vertical Progress gained a strong reputation for psycho-social skill development. Our training programs have touched lives across India, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Dubai and Canada. Headquartered in Chennai, with a branch in Kuala Lumpur, we have empowered over 150,000 individuals in just 15 years to grow personally and professionally.
